Hi! I'm Camille Dierksheide, a Staunton resident. I know you can relate when I say that the past two years have been rough. I started EXTREME crafting through COVID so I wouldn't lose my mind!! Last year, this extreme crafting culminated in a spectacular front yard Halloween display.
Extreme Crafting Spooky Trees!!
Our bright green c.1933 house is situated near the corner of Taylor Street on North Coalter in Staunton, right across from the McSwain Elementary School field. Given our prominent location, our house attracts MANY onlookers and caught the attention of the News Leader!
We decided that we should put all the attention we received toward some good use.
Arts are not a diversion from education. Rather, they are a critical part of education.
As Einstein said~
“Creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else ever thought.”
“The greatest scientists are always artists as well.”
This year, our display, "Whimsically Witchy", will benefit the art and music departments at McSwain Elementary!!
Visitors will scan a QR code which will take them directly to whimsicallywitchy.org featuring a link to the McSwain Elementary PTA donation portal. All the proceeds will be earmarked for the arts. We hope this will be the inaugural year of the fundraiser and ultimately we want to raise enough money to augment arts funding in all of Staunton City Schools.

As in previous years, the display has featured a witch's parlor, with fireplace and spinning wheel, a ghostly lit graveyard, and spooky trees. This year we are in the process of constructing some exciting additions, including smoking cauldrons, six witches with flickering, light-up heads, and mechanized flying ghosts!!
WE ARE STILL IN NEED of supplies to complete the build-out of the installation and we need your organization's support!!! YOUR ORGANIZATION'S SPONSORSHIP, will help us to give flight to motorized ghosts, make witches’ cauldrons bubble, put smiles on countless trick-or-treaters, AND enhance arts education in Staunton!
